Native American Bow and Arrow Game

The bow and arrow has been used by native American Indians for hunting and war for thousands of years with some arrow heads dated to 13,000 years old. Most bows were made of wood and the arrows were fletched with feathers to make them fly straighter. Just as in this bow and arrow game, young Indian boys would start using their bow and arrow gear at a young age, normally 5 or 6yrs old, and it was often the case that they would use human targets although aiming slightly to one side of the target at shoulder height. One favourite game would be for the target to attempt to bring the arrow down by striking it with a knife. As a warrior a young Indian would be able to fire around fifteen to twenty arrows a minute from the quiver mounted on his back.
