Western Frontier Games
The western frontier, also known as the American Frontier or the Wild West, is an integral part of the American identity as settlers from the easetern board states emigrated westwards particularly after the Louisiana Purchase by the United States from the French First Republic in 1803 for the equivilanet of eighteen dollars per square mile, giving the US a total of 828,000 sq miles in Middle America. Great for the newly emerging United States, but not so good for the Native Americans who actually lived there. The wild west period is normally seen as the one that followed the Civil War and the early part of the twentieth century and is symbolised by the encroachment of 'civilization' into frontier land, the removal and/or assimilation of natives, the rule of law and the eradication of banditry with the establishment of sheriffs across the area. Here we try and recapture the spirit of the new western frontier in a series of online games. |
